StringPort's software suite provides multiple apps to work with, giving you maximum control over the sound of your instrument. You can stay simple and pick your favorite, or you can explore different combinations and use multiple apps simultaneously, allowing you to layer up to 12 different sounds per string (limited only by the number of cores and speed of your computer). All of these apps are contained within one host application: StringPort MainFrame. Processing, VST Wall, Synthesis, MIDI Out, and Notation are all standalone modules that you launch from the MainFrame module.
StringPort Modules
-
MainFrame

MainFrame is the foundation of the StringPort experience. This is the module that provides audio input for tuning and level setup, Preset Management, MIDI In mapping and the world’s most sophisticated string analysis engine. Fast and accurate pitch and triggering data has been the Holy Grail needed to enable an interface as fast and demanding as you are. Now available here.

Audio Input

The Audio Input window is used to adjust the gain for each string, and to map the StringPort inputs to application processing slots. The window has a row for each instrument string, with a Trim fader, spectrograph, monitor mute, and a level indicator. The polyphonic tuner shows the pitches of all the strings simultaneously.

MIDI Input

The StringPort receives data from external MIDI devices for use in our extensive modulation matrix.

Presets

Almost every window in StringPort can be saved, named, and recalled as one of 99 available custom presets. In the StringPort main window, you can save and recall the presets of all the individual applications in various combinations. This enables you to create, save, and recall effects that use multiple StringPort applications quickly and easily. A preset can also be saved for the entire StringPort suite in the main window, so that settings from multiple applications can be recalled all at once.

Preset Modulation

StringPort's "Mod Line" provides a single, powerful standard for mapping control sources and Analysis data to the control destinations in an intuitive and flexible manner. From the modline in this window your parameter destinations can be set to increment or decrement your saved presets for any of the other windows. This allows you to create multiple presets and move between them all within one performance without even having to touch your computer.
Analysis

Analysis is a single application that allows you to set up and see the data being analyzed by the StringPort software. In this window, you can adjust triggering and gate sensitivity, open string sensitivity, inter-string isolation, auto quantize, etc.

VST FX Wall
In the VST FX Wall, you can load up to four of your favorite VSTs per each string and have the Wall remember the order, settings (including any custom presets you make), levels and pan. Each string can have a different sound or the intelligent “Copy Down” button makes creating a unified six string setup a snap.
Got plug-ins? Drop ‘em in here! VST FX Wall is a matrix of up to 4 VST effects… per string!

VST Mod Assign

Once you have chosen which VST plugins you’d like to use you can choose which parameters you might like to control (if any). To do this, click the little circle below “mod assign” and you’ll be taken to this page.
FX Wall Modulation
Open the Modulation page and you can map multiple sources (like Fret Number, Continuous Loudness, or MIDI) to destinations within each of the 24 VSTs. All of our Modulation pages feature the time saving “Iter” button which allows you to set up a modulation path for string 1, and have the computer iterate it for strings 2-6. If you already have VSTs you know and love, you can now create that wall of sound you have only heard in your head. With VST-FX-Wall, you can use the best work from hundreds of companies to make the guitar walk your way.

Processing
We have labored to bring four powerful and never before possible polyphonic processors to your favorite instrument. Polyphonic processing is different than the distortion and/or filters you may be used to, in that our processing provides a complete signal chain for each and every string. Each string can have it’s own sound. Effects no longer fall apart when you play chords.

-
WaveGuide

Drive a 2D physical model from the audio of your divided pickup. Adjust envelope, damping, tension and then push it through an adjustable distortion stage and EQ. You know you’re good when you can ride the wave, but truly great when you can guide the wave.
PolyFuzz

Keith's first hex processor (1980) was the PolyFuzz – an analog box that had three distortion paths and two sub octave voices per string. This is the redux on steroids. The brilliant user interface allows you to control all the necessary effects for string players. This includes a fancy compressor/limiter/gate, a four section parametric EQ, Pitch Shifting, Modulation (chorus, flange, vibrato, ring mod), distortion and amp-sim, a final delay, EQ and verb.
Phase Vocoder

Up to six sound files can be controlled by the strings of your instrument. Map pitch to speed and loudness to pitch and make any DJ scratch his head and not his disks. More fun than any other sound file manipulator because you can do it all from your guitar – times six.

SMACK

Do you find playing your instrument is addictive? That was just the gateway… welcome to the next level. SMACK is a phase-driven wavetable synthesizer with formant creation, waveshaping, inter-modulation, two pitch-shifter/octave-dividers, VCA, VCF and dual-moving EQs. Start working with the powerful user interface and you’ll find yourself hooked on this rare gathering of some of the most gut-wrenching, ball-dropping synthetic sounds ever gathered in one place.
Modulation

The "Modulation" window gives you access to a dozen different "mod lines" per string. These "mod lines" take data from Analysis, plot that data against a lookup table, and output the resultant data to relevant parameter destinations.

Synthesis
Yes we do MIDI, but why stop there? We know more about your playing than can ever be reduced to pressing white and black plastic buttons. We provide you with classic FM and Subtractive synthesis as well as support for the World Class "Synful" synthesizer. A powerful Accompaniment system allows you to have up to 128 tracking voices.

Notation
The handy Notation module takes the Analysis data from your performance and translates it into a MIDI notation track, ready to be imported into your favorite musical notation software. So take up your axe and transcribe the music you hear in your head with the instrument you play! Free yourself from the tyranny of keyboard MIDI-input!
When you can see the end of the last note and the start of the next note along with everything in between, the ability to correctly identify timing, triplets, slides and hammer-ons becomes possible. Notations output works with all scoring programs and also supports tablature.
