Commission Rules and Regulations

  1. Entries will be accepted until March 31, 2010.
  2. All submissions must be performable in real time by a single string player.
  3. The compositions must exclusively use the K-Apps suite of processing and playback.
  4. Pieces should be 9-12 minutes in length.
  5. The piece must be performable by any capable soloist and not be constrained to the composer or a single individual.
  6. Files used for the Phase Vocoder must be no longer than 18 seconds. Extra points if sounds in files made by chosen instrument.
  7. Submissions must include a computer readable notated score, K-Apps presets used for the score and an approximate realization of the piece using the K-Bow simulator with the K-Apps suite of software.

  9. Selection will be announced May 31, 2010. A performance later in 2010 will be presented premiering the piece. The piece is not to be played publicly until after the premier.
  10. Members of BEAM Foundation, Kesumo, LLC, StringPort LLC, & Keith McMillen Instruments are not eligible.
